Raleigh Police arrested a 20-year-old Tuesday on charges of statutory sex offense with a 14-year-old boy.
Arrest warrants say Phillip Barham, 20, raped the victim on Jan. 19, though it was not immediately clear if Barham and the victim knew each other.
Barham is being held at the Wake County Detention Facility under an $800,000 bond.
Barham had worked as a teacher's assistant at Southeast Raleigh High School. He resigned Wednesday morning, according to a spokesman for Wake County schools.
