Cary Police are searching for a suspect who attempted to break into Mayor Harold Weinbrecht's home.

According to Deanna D. Boone, spokeswoman for the Town of Cary, the incident happened Tuesday morning at 105 Windspring Way, which is the Weinbrecht household.

The police reports that the homeowner was startled by her residential alarm activating. The woman, who was not identified in the report, says she saw a male running from the screened-in rear porch.

It appears the suspect tried to gain entry into the home by forcing open a window screen on the porch storm door.

Authorities say the race of the suspect is unknown, but is believed to be between 5 feet 10 inches tall and 6 feet tall. The suspect was described as having a medium build with dark hair and was last seen wearing a dark blue or black coat and dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cary Police.
