A Raleigh neighborhood put together a spontaneous food and clothing drive for tornado victims and by Saturday ended up with two truckloads of donations.

People who live around Avington Place off Buffaloe Road had a tree downed in their neighborhood and a few shingles blown off roofs. But that was the extent of the damage.

So two days ago, according to Realtor Carrie Surtie, the homeowner's association board starting putting up flyers asking for donated clothes, household items and non-perishable food.

Donations started arriving at 11 a.m. Saturday and so many items were brought in that the association asked the Helping Hand Mission to send out a truck to pick them up. The Mission ended up needing a second truck.
