»  Comments | Post a Comment

Local children join an effort to turn the world upside down.

This afternoon gymnasts gathered at Chapel Hill's University Mall, to join a world record attempt, for the most simultaneous handstands.

It raised money for the Children's Miracle Network, to help kids battling illnesses.

For three hours, local talents in taekwondo and gymnastics, tumbled and tussled.

NBC 17's Annette Newell was the m.c. for the event.

Faulkners Dance and Gymnastics of Hillsborough, and Neill's Taekwondo and Fitness of Chapel Hill, teamed up for the National Gymnastics Day demonstration.

The 50 local handstands contributed to the total of more than 20,000 nationwide, breaking the world record.
