»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Lee County elementary school was placed on lockdown after a bank robbery in the town of Broadway Friday morning, according to local police.

A male came into the BB&T on South Main Street and demanded money from a teller around 10:45 a.m., said Broadway Police Chief Todd Hinnant.

The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, Hinnant said.

No one was injured.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his mid to late 40’s or early 50’s. They say he was wearing a black hat, green coat, white button up shirt with a tie and khaki pants.

Hinnant said Broadway Elementary was placed on lockdown.
