Ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff will be a guest speaker at William Peace University Thursday to give insight on the corruption in Washington.
Abramoff was just released from federal prison in 2010 after serving 43 months of a six year sentence for mail fraud and conspiracy charges.
Formerly one of the country's most powerful and notorious lobbyists will explain ways to reform the political system. Abramoff says the changed federal lobbying laws passed after he and nearly two dozen others were convicted aren't tough enough to keep special-interest power in check.
The free public event will also include a Q&A session with the audience as well as a book signing.
The event is hosted by the N.C. Center for Voter Education and will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Kenan Recital Hall.
