Authorities say nine members of the SouthWest Edgecombe High School boys basketball team have been arrested and charged with breaking and entering after an incident at the school.

The Daily Southerner of Tarboro reports that Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office says officers were called to the Pinetops school last Friday to investigate a break-in at the school and a concession stand inside the school.

The nine were charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering, misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen property. Among the nine is a juvenile. They have been released from the Edgecombe County Detention Center after being held under a $500 secured bond. It's not known if any of the nine have attorneys.

In addition, the suspects were suspended from school for five days and removed from the team.
