A Raleigh Police officer is in stable condition Tuesday morning after he was shot during a 12-hour stand-off at an apartment complex.
Police say they responded to a call of a man threatening to commit suicide at the Colonial Grand at Brier Creek Place shortly before 11 a.m. Monday.
When a tactical team attempted to enter the apartment around 7:30 p.m. the apartment door was blocked from the inside and the suspect fired several shots, striking Officer A.W. Young, 30, multiple times. Police say Young was treated and transported to WakeMed with nonlife-threatening injuries.
Police say the stand-off ended with the suspect, Steven Meyer, 48, killing himself.
Residences in close proximity of the incident were evacuated.
