Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx will be in Durham Monday to talk about the success of its light rail system as Durham residents decide on a sales and use tax for public transportation in the November election.

On Nov. 8, Durham residents will be able to vote on a half cent sales and use tax for public transportation improvements. If passed, the money would be used to provide more buses and routes. It will also allow Durham to begin raising funds toward a future commuter and light rail service.

Mayor Foxx will talk about how Charlotte’s light rail service, LYNX, has been a success for the city’s economy and environment.

The event is being held at the Durham Amtrak Station located at 601 West Main Street in Durham at 5:30 p.m.
