Thousands of Wake County students that are a part of year round school are starting school Monday morning.
About 40,000 students in tracks 1, 2, and 3 will resume classes.
Students at West Lake Middle School, Wake County's oldest multi-track and year round school, will be greeted by the district's superintendent Tony Tata.
Tata said he wants to meet with parents and students and welcome them back to school. He said he'll also be on hand to answer any questions parents may have about the school year and to reassure that his district is ready for another school year.
"We're kicking off a school year and it's going to be a great school year," said Tata. "We've got teachers fired up and ready to go."
Tata said he talked to all of the teachers last week at an event at Southeast Raleigh High where he laid out the vision and mission.
The biggest concern this year has been over budget cuts, but Tata says the classroom won't feel the hits.
"My number one priority was to protect the classroom and teachers so we're not reducing any teachers and we're keeping every single teacher assistant," said Tata. "We'll be reducing when they work, but they will be in the classroom 100 percent of the time."
One new focus this year is adding a foreign language program to every middle school.
School officials and law enforcement remind motorists to watch out for school buses loading and unloading students. Motorists are also advised to observe school speed zones.
