Pictures continue to pour from Egypt -- many with the help of a local company.
A new website flips the way we use social media. So instead of looking up what your friends or contacts are doing, you can see videos, pictures and tweets based on location. And that's allowing people to tap into the situation in Egypt on a much more personal level.
Home videos uploaded to YouTube showing the chaos outside people’s doors, pictures showing the passion of their message, images of people making protest signs, frustration at Cairo's airport and even messages to tourists in Egypt; all of this social media can be found on Raleigh based Mirascape.com.
Founder Robert Rice says Cairo was an experiment.
"It wasn't anything that we kind of expected, and we got to the point where we didn't get any work done for a day because we were all hitting refresh,” Rice said.

The technology works by using something called "earthmarks.” Rice explained the software basically grabs public social media postings tied to specific locations, anything from the Las Vegas Convention Center to Al Tahrir Square in Egypt.
"We're beginning to see a lot of things created by people on the ground that aren't necessarily being distributed or getting any kind of press. It's very interesting,” Rice said.
Mirascape.com went online about four weeks ago.
