Wake County authorities are issuing nine arrest warrants of suspected voter fraud.
District Attorney Colon Willoughby confirms four arrests and said some of the suspects are charged with voting twice in the presidential election in 2008.
Shelia Hodges, 46, Kierra Leach, 26, Lela Devonetta Murray, 54, and Brandon McLean, 25, are each charged with voter fraud.
Hodges, Leach and McLean each bonded out on $10,000. All three were scheduled to appear in court Friday at 9 a.m.
Murray, who according to the Wake County magistrate's office also goes by the last name "Conrad," is scheduled to appear in court Friday at 2 p.m.
According to her arrest warrant, she is accused of voting twice on election day 2010. She has a criminal record that includes a conviction of embezzlement by a state employee in the early 1980s and another embezzlement conviction in 1990. She also faced drug charges in the early 1990s.
The Wake County Board of Elections turned information over the the district attorney's office and Willoughby asked the SBI to investigate the allegations of voting irregularities.
Willoughby said this was not an organized effort, and the suspects acted alone.
President Barack Obama, a Democrat, beat Republican Sen. John McCain in the 2008 election, and North Carolina marked an all-time high voter turnout.
Wake County Elections Director Cherie Poucher said, "The important thing is that processes are in place to guarantee the intergrity of the election."
