Two men have been arrested in connection to the death of a 15-year-old girl found on the shoreline of Jordan Lake, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
Patricia Perez, 15, of Fuquay-Varina was found stabbed to death early Saturday morning.
Gabriel Alejandro Maricio Lopez, 20, of Apex was charged with first degree murder at 2 p.m. Alejanero Prada Sanchez, 19, also of Apex, was charged at 7 p.m.
Deputies said they believe Lopez, described as Perez's boyfriend, stabbed her to death at Jordan Lake. They said they believe Sanchez witnessed the murder.
Both men were being held without bond Sunday night.
Patricia Lopez's family had declined comment about her death. More than 200 people had expressed shock and sympathy on a Facebook page created in her memory.
Lopez and Sanchez were to appear in court on Monday.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office credited the Wake County Sheriff's Office for assisting in the investigation.
