A Raleigh boy with a long list of medical challenges has a new place to call his own, thanks to a group of people who just wanted to help him and his family.
Justin Keller, 8, was born with a brain injury, said his mother, Sarah Keller. She said as Justin has gotten older, he's had trouble with compression fractures in his spine, confining him to his bed for much of the time.
Now, Justin has a new bedroom that's not as cluttered, complete with a new television and an ocean theme.
"The room is beautiful," his mom said. "It will be fantastic for him."
The project was thanks to a group called April's Angels, founded eight years ago by Victoria Bloise. The group provides fantasty rooms for chronically ill children.
"I don't think most people realize the lasting impact this will have on a family," she said.
Bloise and others responsible for the project gathered Sunday at the Keller home to celebrate the new bedroom.
April's Angels teamed with the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County on the project. Most of the materials for the room came from donations.
"It's just going to make such a huge difference in his life," Sarah Keller said.
