Some local kids are hoping to see their accomplishment in a future "Guinness Book of World Records".

Twenty-five students from Oak Grove Elementary School in Raleigh spent Thursday afternoon "Sport Stacking" cups at a Cary gas station.

An estimated 300,000 other kids were doing the same thing at locations worldwide.

The previous simultaneous stacking record was about 276,000.

Event participants included Team USA record holders from North Carolina.

Daniel Hong, 8, is from the Triangle area and currently holds world records for two competitive stacks.

Emma, 10, and Heath, 11, Slabach are from the Greensboro area and currently hold the North Carolina record for doubles. Emma has also held word records in her age group four years in a row.
