Christmas shoppers looking for somewhere different to find a gift can browse the North Carolina State Farmers Market and make a charitable donation at the same time.

The Market Shoppes at the farmers market is hosting an open house on Saturday. The event caps the market's "Week of Giving" food drive to benefit the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

Shoppers can drop off nonperishable food items and monetary donations under the Giving Tree at the Market Shoppes, which offers North Carolina products and gift ideas, including meats and cheeses, jams and jellies, baked goods and crafts.

The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle recovers good food that would otherwise be discarded to feed to hungry in seven counties.
