The Triangle could boast its second-straight American Idol. That is if Adam Lee Decker is successful.
Decker, who works as a bartender at Bocci’s Trattoria and Pizzeria, is in the Top 42 on “American Idol” and says getting that far in the singing competition has not been an easy process.
“American Idol’ is definitely one of the most grueling things I've ever been through,” Decker explained. “Anything I've ever done before musically or with TV just didn't set me up or prepare me for what that was. It’s its own element.”
A native of Cortland, N.Y., Decker moved to the Triangle three years ago and says he hopes to represent the Tar Heel state much like last season’s winner, Garner’s own Scotty McCreery.
“I moved down here three years ago from central New York, and I found my fiancé and … a lot of great things down here,” Decker said. “I love the weather down here. It’s just as beautiful place to be, so I'm really happy to go ahead and represent North Carolina in this process.”
The 28-year-old flies back to the west coast on Wednesday to try to advance to the Top 24.
