When it's time to dump your financial advisor

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Taking care of your money and making sure others do too. Do you know the signs that tell you it's time to dump your financial advisor?

Financial Coach Pete D'Arruda, host of the nationally-syndicated radio show 'Financial Safari,' discusses the four warning signs you should should look out for:

1. Your advisor does not take your personal goals, risk tolerance or time frame into account. There is no one-size-fits all investment plan; who you are and what you want out of your money should be considered when managing your investments.

2. They are highly focused on returns. No advisor can predict the future. If your advisor promises a specific investment return, run.

3. Limited access to your advisor. You shouldn't find yourself always hunting for your advisor. They should find the time to answer a few questions or update you on the status of your investments.

4. Only one company's products are sold or recommended. If your advisor wants you to put everything into one investment, they may be biased and not really looking out for you.

If you have any questions about your finances, leave a message for Pete on our Facebook page and he'll answer them for you. We're at NBC 17.
